My professional and educational background

My name is Irene Cano, I am a professional violinist with more than ten years of experience in music education.

Music has been the cornerstone of my life since early childhood. After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance at the Conservatory of Music in Murcia, I felt a deep calling to not only perform but to share the transformative power of music with others. My own journey taught me that true musical excellence comes from the joy of playing, connecting with others, and expressing emotions, values that I now place at the heart of my teaching.

Professional Performance & Versatility

As a violinist, my classical training has led me to perform with professional orchestras and chamber ensembles in both Spain and Ireland. However, my passion for folk and traditional music has defined my creative career, leading me to record and tour with diverse projects outside the classical sphere. This versatility is reflected in my lessons, where I offer a wide-ranging repertoire—from timeless classics to contemporary hits and folk tunes.

Innovative Pedagogy & Early Years Expertise

To provide my students with the most effective learning strategies, I have dedicated over a decade to specialising in world-renowned methodologies:

RIAM Diploma: In 2015, I obtained the Diploma in Music Teaching and Performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
Violin Specialisations: My toolkit includes insights from the Suzuki, Rolland, and Colourstrings methods, ensuring a versatile approach tailored to each individual child, wether their goals are more academic or simply enjoy learning the instrument at their own pace.
Dalcroze Eurhythmics: Fascinated by movement-based learning, I completed my Dalcroze Certificate at the Escola Joan Llongueres in Barcelona (2017). This allows me to teach music through the body, engaging students from ages 3 to 12 in a dynamic way.
Gordon Music Learning Theory (MLT): I am certified in Edwin Gordon’s research-based approach, which focuses on developing musical intelligence and audiation from birth.

A Proven Track Record in Ireland

For several years, I have been part of the Music Generation team in Ireland. This experience has been invaluable, allowing me to lead instrumental lessons and general music programmes for groups of all sizes and backgrounds. I take pride in developing my own pedagogical materials, ensuring my classes are always fresh, engaging, and aligned with the latest international educational standards.
